With former Deputy Attorney General Larry D. Thompson, as well as all three partners and two counsel who have decades of combined experience as federal prosecutors, Finch McCranie LLP’s lawyers offer a unique combination of experience in both the United States Department of Justice and the private sector.

In addition to internal investigations and white collar criminal defense, we have expanded our legal services to include serving as an “independent corporate compliance monitor” for firms required to retain the services of a monitor. Larry D. Thompson of our firm currently serves as the Independent Compliance Monitor and Auditor for Volkswagen AG. Michael A. Sullivan serves on the Senior Leadership Team of the Volkswagen AG Monitorship, as counsel to Mr. Thompson with responsibilities including coordinating with counsel across the globe to advise on legal requirements of countries in Europe, Asia, North America, and South America.

Monitorships may result from negotiated pleas or Deferred Prosecution Agreements with the Justice Department. A related area involves “Independent Review Organizations” (IRO), which may be required under a Corporate Integrity Agreement with a federal oversight agency. In addition to our firm’s advising and consulting with companies oncompliance issues, we can assist companies required to retain the services of a monitor, auditor, or IRO.
