Career Prosecutor Oto Ekpo Joins Law Firm Finch McCranie to Continue Victim Advocacy
ATLANTA, Ga., June 3, 2024—Finch McCranie announces the addition of Otobong “Oto” Ukpong Ekpo to the firm as an attorney. Ekpo joins the firm after serving for fifteen years in the public sector as a prosecutor with DeKalb and Fulton counties. During her career as a prosecutor, Ekpo tried more than 100 jury trials. She prosecuted the most serious crimes, including murder, rape, sexual assault, sex trafficking, drug trafficking, and vehicular homicide, among many others.
Ekpo will focus her practice on the representation of people catastrophically injured or killed due to the negligence of others in cases arising from medical malpractice, violent crime, negligent security, premises liability, and other issues.
“Oto has devoted her career to advocating for victims of wrongdoing,” said Richard Hendrix, a partner with Finch McCranie. “We are proud to add her high-caliber experience to our practice.”
David Bouchard, a Finch McCranie partner, added, “Oto’s talent and accomplishments as a trial lawyer set her apart. She will be instrumental in helping us achieve justice for deserving victims of negligence for years to come.”
Ekpo is active in the Atlanta community. In 2023, she was elected to a two-year term as a member of the Board of Governors, which controls and administers the affairs of the Georgia State Bar. She also serves on the Executive Boards of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys and Junior League of DeKalb County. Additionally, she is a member of the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, Lawyers Club of Atlanta, and DeKalb Lawyers Association. Ekpo grew up in Texas and received her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas and her law degree from Emory University School of Law.
“I consider it a privilege to walk with victims and their loved ones as they pursue justice,” said Ekpo. “While serving victims of crime by putting away the criminals who wronged them has been incredibly rewarding, the move to private practice will enable me to continue to support victims of misconduct in a capacity not before possible. I am incredibly honored to join the tremendously skilled and long-established team at Finch McCranie and to continue to pursue meaningful and fulfilling work for those most deserving.”
